Overview
This was an interesting experiment.
I used the Concept drawing app on iOS.
With Mythic cards and real dice.
Pros/Cons
Pros
- Had clipped images of various pages from the Mausritter rules, mythic magazine
- Could quickly sketch images for characters
- Could manage the character sheets easily
Cons
- Seemed to use a lot of memory - battery would drain. But could be worse.
- Navigating needed zooming and panning which was a slight inconvenience but preferable compared to having to switch apps.
Thoughts on Mausritter
- Easy to learn. Started getting in to how the rolls and combat worked.
- The inventory management is nice, but fiddly. Would need to be adjusted to work in Obsidian.
- Happy to try again at some point.
Thoughts on Mythic investigation method
- Interesting. It worked and had some nice elements which shook things up
- Would be happy to try it again.
Thoughts on using Concepts
- I liked it. I persevered and it got easier over time. I would rearrange the positioning of elements more though.
- I might use it more like a scratch pad next time. I will write up notes in Obsidian.
Conclusion
Still not 100% happy with set up. I will try some other avenues.
But I think a good learning point is that I want to be able to run a solo game under the following setups:
- On my tablet
- On my phone
- Physical only
- On my laptop
It is clear that for each of the above, the following considerations need to be accounted for:
- RPG type (complexity, format)
- How to juggle all the tools etc
